General
YWO has a current membership of over 45 musicians covering all the sections of a wind band. Membership is open to musicians of an appropriate standard who agree with the aims of the orchestra and who accept the rules of the orchestra as detailed in the constitution. Potential members may be invited to orchestra rehearsals for a period of time but will not be deemed members until their application has been approved by the committee, subject to a recommendation by the MD and Chairperson.
Players recruited for a foreign tour will be deemed temporary members. Should they wish to join the orchestra after the tour their application will be considered by the committee as outlined above.
Equipment and uniform
When a person becomes a full member of the orchestra, he/she will be given a music stand and items of uniform, both for concert use, and a music folder. It is their responsibility to take care of this equipment, pay for any necessary replacement, and return it to the orchestra should they leave.
